2026 KEA Delegate Assembly

The 2026 KEA Delegate Assembly will be held in person on Thursday, April 9 beginning at 1:00 p.m. EST/12:00 p.m. CST and at 9:00 a.m. EST/8:00 a.m. CST on Friday, April 10.    Duly elected delegates can find information on the edCommunities page “Delegate Assembly 2026”.  The DA will be held at the Crowne Plaza, 830 Phillips Lane, Louisville, KY. 

Delegates are elected from each local and must be properly registered to participate.  This is accomplished by the local president submitting the delegates/alternates names and information on the Smartsheet form (on left side).  Delegates and Alternates must be submitted by 5:00 p.m.  November 30, 2025.  Those reported after that date must be approved by the KEA Constitution/Compliance Committee.  Final submission of delegates and alternates is March 23, 2026.After that date, delegates and alternates can register on-site at the KEA Help Desk during registration hours.

All Active local delegates and alternates to the DA must be elected; no delegate or alternate may be appointed.  If you are a KEA local president or designee, you may use the form to the left to submit information about your local’s elected delegates/alternates. KEA Board of Directors and District Officers are automatically delegates to the DA and do not count in their local’s number of allowed delegates (these are registered by Valerie Leathers.

Local presidents will be notified of the number of their local’s allocated delegates.  The allocation is based on the membership of the local, 1 delegate for every 50 members or greater fraction thereof.  For instance, locals with at least 26 members are allocated 1 delegate; locals with at least 76 members are allocated 2 delegates; and so on.  Elections for delegates and alternates should be conducted as soon as possible after notice is received.  Locals should elect delegates for all allocated positions and should also elect alternates in the event an elected delegate cannot attend.  The name and contact information for all delegates and alternates must be reported to KEA on this form.

Delegate information packets will be mailed in mid-February.   

Proposed New Business Items must be submitted by noon on Thursday, April 9, 2026. Note that this deadline is before the DA officially begins at 1:00 p.m. that same day.  Only official delegates may submit NBIs. All NBIs must be submitted electronically using the form to the left.

Notice of 2026 KEA statewide elections:  Delegates to the 2026 KEA DA will elect a NEA Ethnic Minority Director (Seat 1). The successful candidates will serve a 3-year term beginning July 2026 and ending July 2029.  Deadline to declare is January 15, 2026.   You can submit your nominations here.

Information and Reports:  Committee and officer reports to the 2026 KEA DA will be available by March 21, 2026.
