Be a Champion for Public Education
Become part of the Kentucky Education Association (KEA) and be a champion for public education! Public educators all across Kentucky are members of KEA and NEA. We are 42,000 strong in Kentucky and 3 million strong nationwide. Collectively, we advocate for public education by improving funding for schools, guaranteeing resources for students, and respecting and supporting all public school educators, whether certified or classified.
Active KEA members within a school district are part of their local association. Membership is unified across the local, state, and national levels, so joining KEA means you’re also joining your local, state, and national association.
KEA is democratically organized at every level, meaning that members elect their local, state, and national leadership after open nominations through a secret ballot. Everyone has the opportunity to be heard. And any member can be a leader in this organization.
Membership in KEA also offers chances to hone your advocacy skills, for yourself and for your students. KEA members value public education and work hard to ensure a quality public education for every Kentucky student. Achieving that goal means taking opportunities to work with your local board of education, the Kentucky General Assembly, and even with Congress. If you are energized by the political process and love to lobby elected officials, KEA is the place for you.
Other benefits of KEA membership include access to and support from paid staff, who are available statewide; legal assistance with employment matters; access to free or discounted professional learning; and access to all that NEA Member Benefits has to offer. Many of these benefits are also available to your family members.
