On April 29, 2014, at 3:30 p.m. ET, the U.S. Departments of Justice and Education will present “Guiding Principle 3: Equity and Continuous Improvement.” This 90-minute Webinar will review Guiding Principle 3, as outlined in "Guiding Principles: A Resource Guide for Improving School Climate and Discipline” from the school discipline guidance package, a product of the Supportive School Discipline Initiative. The Webinar will identify Guiding Principle 3 action steps for eliminating discriminatory school discipline policies and practices and explore how to implement each step.
The Webinar will be moderated by David Osher, Ph.D. (American Institutes for Research, Washington, DC), and feature key experts in the field who have implemented elements of Principle #3, including: Russ Skiba (Director, Equity Project, Indiana University, Center for Evaluation and Education Policy), James Bell (Director, W. Haywood Burns Institute), Anne Gregory (Associate Professor, Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology, Rutgers University), and Rebecca Fitch (Project Manager for the Civil Rights Data Collection, U.S. Department of Education.
