Delegate Information:

Rooms at the Marriott Downtown are currently sold out. You can make reservations at Springhill Suites, 132 East Jefferson St., Louisville, KY 40202.  Phone: (502) 569-7373.  You are responsible for all expenses incurred.  A reservation at the Springhill Suites can be made at book your group rate for KEA OverFlow Grp 2  The new room rate will be $165.00 for double/double Queen room because the hotel is nearly sold out.  The rooms are only availalbe until Wednesday, April 20th.   If you have problems making reservations at the Springhill, please contact Valerie Leathers at vleathers@kea.org

KESPA delegates make your reservations using this form.  KESPA will pay for double occupancy rooms; if you request a single room, you are responsible to pay the difference.  Please do not call the hotel directly.  Instead, please complete the room request form and return it to Pam Copley by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, February 29, 2016. 

KEA Bylaws require that members who do not have their dues deducted through payroll deduction must be paid in full by March 15 in order to serve as a delegate. Please remember to bring your KEA membership card and a picture ID to use for registration.  The schedule for registration is:

    Wednesday, April 6
        5:00 p.m. – 7:45 p.m.        Registration of Delegates and Alternates
    Thursday, April 7
        8:30 a.m. – 9:45 a.m.        Registration of Delegates and Alternates

Non-delegate visitors, including family members, do not have floor privileges.  Visitor seating will be provided in another area of the assembly hall.  Visitors should obtain a guest badge from the registration area.

Only those delegates who are properly registered by Thursday morning will be eligible to vote.  The voting schedule and other pertinent information is on the enclosed flyer.  The First Business Session of the DA will convene at 8:00 p.m. (Eastern Time) on Wednesday, April 6. 

A copy of the minutes from the April 2015 Delegate Assembly will be distributed at your district pre-delegate caucus meeting so that you will have an opportunity to read them before the meeting.  They are also posted below.  Please bring a copy with you to the Delegate Assembly because they will not be in the delegate packet. We look forward to seeing you there.

As a part of KEA Goes Green, please note that routine reports will not be duplicated and included in packets. Check back here after March 23 to view these reports.

Alternate Information:

While all members are welcome to attend the Delegate Assembly as guests, you will only serve as an official delegate if your local president requests that you do so.

If your local president requests that you serve in place of a delegate, you must have your local president complete the official form, “Local President’s Designation of Alternate to the Delegate Assembly”, and present the completed form when you register.   Delegates being replaced by alternates must be replaced by alternates of the same educational position according to KEA Bylaws, Article III, Section 3(f): 

    f.     Delegates to fill educational positions (i.e. supervisor or non-supervisor) may be replaced only by alternates of the same educational position. Delegates elected to fulfill ethnic minority requirements may be replaced only by ethnic minority alternates.
