Research

 

 

KEA’s Research and Instructional Advocacy program provides and interprets research for the Association, tracks and analyzes instructional issues, tracks and analyzes health insurance and retirement issues, coordinates the Association’s instructional advocacy, and supports the lobby team. Specifically:

 

Assist local affiliates and field staff with research to support bargaining and other local advocacy on economic and instructional issues.

Assist the Association with developing, administering and interpreting surveys.

Analyze instructional issues and develop Association positions, coordinating the work with other staff and members.

Advocate members’ interests in discussions with state agencies about instructional excellence. Monitor actions and meetings of the KY B of E, the KY DE and legislative committees.

Analyze and interpret data about members’ health care through the state health insurance plan. Advocate members’ interest in discussions with state agencies about health insurance.

Analyze and interpret data bout members’ retirement benefits through the state retirement systems. Advocate members’ interest in discussions with state agencies about retirement issues.

Support lobbying efforts with issues related to members’ economic and professional welfare.

 

Mona Ball, a 30 year field staff veteran, assumed this position in December 2007.
