KEA-Student Program members celebrated the birthday of Dr. Seuss by promoting reading programs and providing a book for every student in the school.

Hundreds of NKEA members and public education supporters wore red as they gathered on Saturday morning, February 20, 2010, at the Boone County High School gymnasium to convey their message to State Legislators.

Over thirty First District KEA retired teachers gathered at the Paducah UniServ office for a winter training extravaganza. Topics discussed included: Health Insurance, legislative updates, and NEA retired member benefits. Lana Blish, First District KEA retired president coordinated and lead the informative event.

The McCracken County Education Association sponsored the McCracken County Districtwide spelling bee. Mark Buchanan, Principal and longtime KEA member coordinated the event for elementary and middle school students. Sandy Anderson, MCEA president and Becky Nuckolls, MCEA treasurer are pictured with the champion and runner-up.

Each legislative session, KEA has a team of KEA leaders and staff who are at the Capitol every day, usually beginning their day at 7:00 a.m. to contact legislators before the committee meetings of the day begin. At the end of each legislative day, the team gathers back at the KEA building on Capital Avenue to review the day and plan for the next day’s advocacy.
