KEA Position on School Calendars

KEA supports efforts to assist schools affected by this year’s ice storm and high winds from Hurricane Ike.

KEA supports HB 322 which would forgive up to ten instructional days lost because of these natural disasters.  Local school districts would have to request forgiveness. Even if the instructional days were forgiven, employees would still work those days and would still receive their full salary and retirement credit for the year.

Rep. Mike Cherry (D-Princeton) sponsored the bill and has been working closely with KEA on it.

The KEA Board of Directors has taken a position of support on HB 322.
