House and Senate Fail to Adequately Fund Health Insurance for School and State Employees
3/26/2010
Both the House and Senate budget significantly underfund the Kentucky Employer Health Plan (KEHP), by not planning for any inflationary increase in medical insurance costs from 2010 to 2011. They only planned for a 2% increase from 2011 to 2012. Furthermore, and most importantly, the legislature fixed the employer contribution across all plans that may be offered. That means the effect of any inflation that occurs will fall entirely on the employee. Follow the link to your current plan to see the effect the House and Senate budget will likely have on your health insurance premiums next year. Then contact your Representative and Senator immediately to tell them to restore full funding to KEHP and to lift the limits on employer contributions.
